ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon women's wrestling team returns to action for the first time in almost two months on Sunday, January 23, hosting East Stroudsburg. The match gets underway at 2 p.m. at the Hammermill Center and will feature a unique format. The men's wrestling teams will also compete at the same time on a second mat.
 
The Golden Knights have not competed since posting a 44-5 win over Elmira in their lone dual of the season. They were scheduled to compete in the NWCA National Duals on January 6-7 but chose not to travel to Indianapolis for the competition. After that, Gannon was set to compete in the Tornado Open in Bristol Tenn. on January 16, but the tournament was postponed.

East Stroudsburg has alo endured a long layoff. The Warriors last wrestled on December 5 in the Aggie Duals, picking up wins over Delaware Valley and Elmira to improve to 4-1. Since that time they have had duals with Sacred Heart and Delaware Valley postponed. 
 
GANNON IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
Gannon is ranked ninth in the most recent NWCA Women's National Poll. Four individuals are currently in the NWCA individual rankings, led by Kat Pendergrass (South Hill, Va./South Granville(NC)) (5-1) in the sixth spot at 101 lbs. Pendergrass could square off against East Stroudsburg's Joanne Ortiz, who is ranked one spot behind Pendergrass in seventh place.
 
Anya Knappenberger (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) holds down the seventh spot at 130 lbs. with a 10-1 record, while Annabelle Helm (Vancouver, Wash./Union) is also seventh at 170 lbs.  The junior has an 11-3 record. Mikayla Vega (Escalon, Calif./Escalon) (10-1) is ranked eighth at 109 lbs., but the junior is expected to compete at 116 lbs. this weekend.
