Golden Knights Battle to 2-2 Draw with Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday Night

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Gannon women's soccer team scored a pair of goals as the Golden Knights played to a 2-2 draw against Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday night.

Gannon opened scoring in the 24th-minute with a shot by Taylor Lewis (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) before the Redhawks leveled the score to make it 1-1 right before halftime.

Kayla Bevacqua (Welland, Ontario/Notre Dame) put the Knights back on top as the senior was awarded the penalty kick after RWC's Makenzie Muoio committed a foul.

The Redhawks locked the score at two even in the 83rd-minute with a goal by Samantha Rachon after she completed the pass from Muoio.  Lewis looked to take back the lead in the final minutes of regulation but was denied by Madison Papaj.
RWC outshot Gannon 20-10 while eight of the Knights shots landed on target led by Lewis with three followed by Bevacqua and Logan Nicklas (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) with two.

Morgan Sinan (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) registered 90:00 minutes between the post with eight saves.

Gannon returns to action on April 21 as they hit the road for another matchup with Mercyhurst.  Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Mercyhurst Soccer Field.
