HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After 6 minutes of scoreless action McKendree jumped on a 1-0 lead but was responded with two consecutive goals by Campbell Ruh (Walnut, Calif./Lutheran High School of Orange County) and Nicole Wiemken (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) to put the Golden Knights ahead.
  • The game became a back-and-forth affair, as neither team was able to break away with a meaningful lead until two 2-0 runs in the final minutes of the third and fourth put Gannon ahead, 13-10.  McKendree's Emily Westlove would find the back of the net in the final minute of play, but the Golden Knight's defense held on to the lead as the Bearcats were unable to level the score.
  • No. 25 Salem jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first quarter but the Golden Knights shifted the momentum using a 4-0 run in the last five minutes of the second to bring the score within two.
  • Julia Kreidinger (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) opened scoring in the third but the Tigers collected seven straight goals to take control of the game.  Unable to string together a successful run, the Golden Knights would ultimately fall 21-12.

GAME NOTES
  • Six Golden Knights scored across two games led by Wiemken who combined for eight goals including six against McKendree while totaling four assists with two steals.
  • Ruh continues to stride for the leader board top five as she now posts 183 career goals ranking sixth behind former Golden Knight Alison Cooney (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) at 192.
  • Kreidinger put up six goals on the day while Libby Tirak (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) had four followed by Mary Trese Squeglia (Erie, Pa./) with two.
