  • The Golden Knights struggled to get anything going from there as the Falcons added on two more runs in third and five in fourth to stretch their edge up to 10-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon battled back in the second game of the doubleheader as neither team was able to push a run across through the first four innings of action. Wetherholt gave the Knights a spark in fifth inning with a single up the middle to send Trey Zeroski (Clinton, Pa./West Allegheny) home, 1-0.
  • After holding the Falcons scoreless in the bottom half of fifth frame, Gannon erupted for a four-run sixth inning. Adam Malecki (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) got the big inning started driving a single to second base to score Kalbfus, 2-0.
  • Brandan Rea (Washington, Pa./Canon-McMillian) then came up with a momentum shifting two RBI double down the right field line to send Luke Callahan (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) and Malecki home. Miguel Vega (Florida, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) capped the frame with his first career triple to left field to score Rea and seal the win, 5-0.
GAME NOTES
  • Malecki tallied a team-high three hits with one run.
  • Rea notched a team-best two RBI with two hits and one run.
  • Sapp earned the win and pitched a complete game on the mound for the Knights. He fired a game-high 10 strikeouts and only allowed three hits.
