HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Kaity Stocker (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) set the tone for the day cracking a four RBI home run over the fence to put the Knights out in front, 4-0. Following a scoreless second frame, Edinboro came alive adding two runs in the third and two in the fifth to lock the contest, 4-4.
  • Maria Taliani (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) responded for Gannon sending her third home run of the season to deep center field to make the score 5-4. The Knights added on one more run in the fifth to increase their lead to 6-4 after Stocker was able to score an unearned run following a fielding error.
  • Gannon stayed hot from there erupting with a four-run sixth inning highlighted by Stockers second home run of the contest to steal the 10-4 win and snap the Knights' four-game losing streak.
GAME NOTES
  • As a team, Gannon tallied seven hits and four RBI.
  • The Knights scored a season-high 10 runs and connected on a season-best three home runs.
  • Stocker went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a season-best two home runs. It marked her third career multi home run performance and first since the 2019 season. She also added a season-high three runs and matched a career-best five RBI.
  • Taliani went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs, two hits and one RBI. She also added her third home run of the season and 24th of her career.  
  • Kennedy DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) (2-4) logged her fourth complete game of the season going all 7.0 innings with a game-high five strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Following a scoreless first three innings of action, Stocker continued to swing a hot bat connecting on a two RBI home run to center field to put Gannon on the scoreboard, 2-0, in the fourth inning.
  • The Knights continued to surge tacking on three more runs in the fifth frame. Taliani got the big inning started delivering a two RBI single right field scoring Nicole Bush (Painesville, Ohio/Lake Catholic) and Jules Ryan (Collegeville, Pa./Spring Ford), 4-0. Kristina DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) followed it up with a single up the middle to send Taliani home to make the score 5-0.
  • Edinboro attempted to rally with three runs in the sixth inning, but the Gannon defense was able to pick up the final two outs to escape the frame and seal the 5-3 win.
GAME NOTES
  • As a team, Gannon connected on 10 hits and five RBI.
  • Taliani went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a season-high three hits with two RBI. She also contributed a team-best two runs.
  • Coffman registered her first two hits of the season.
  • Stocker contributed two RBI, one run and one hit. She notched her fifth home run of the season and 28th of her career, which ties her with Joanna Fergus (2003-06) for first place on the Gannon all-time home runs list.
  • Rebecca Tatone (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) (2-1) made her third start of the season and fired a game-high five strikeouts.
  • Gabi Vasi (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) finished the final 2.0 innings to pick her first career save to go along with one strikeout.

  • Gannon returns to action with a nonconference showdown at Lake Erie on Friday. The doubleheader is schedule to begin at 3:00 p.m.
