The Short Story: For the second time in less than 24 hours, the Gannon men's soccer team came back to score two goals after halftime to earn a win, topping Daemen 2-1 Sunday afternoon in its home opener.
 
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Daemen struck early 42 seconds into the contest as De Montero Guerrero took advantage of a Gannon defensive misplay to take the 1-0 lead. Both teams then settled in exchanging shots on net over the next 72 minutes of action.
  • Gannon locked the contest, 1-1, at the 73:01 mark after Sergio Del Castillo (Madrid, Spain/) was able to gather rebound and get a shot off in traffic. 
  • The Golden Knights continued their big second half as Lennox Crews (Offenbach, Germany/Leibnizschule) used free kick to beat the goalkeeper in the top right corner for the game-winning goal, 2-1, at the 85:08 mark.
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon posted 17 total shots in comparison to Daemen's four.
  • Del Castillo has scored in all four games this season for the Golden Knights, leading the team with six goals on the year. He took a season-high seven shots against Daemen, including a game-high four on goal.
  • Crews also posted two shots on goal with one goal. It marked his third goal of the season. 
  • David Weber (Sevelen, Switzerland/Liechtensteinisches Gymnasium Vaduz) started in net for the Knights, while David Syntelien (Gjovik, Norway/Gjovik Vinderegaende) played the second half and contributed one save.
