  • The Short Story: Tyler Mattocks (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood) notched his first career home run as Gannon came up short at Chestnut Hill, 15-6, on Sunday afternoon.  
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mattocks put the Golden Knights on the scoreboard, 3-0, with his first career home run to right field with a three RBI shot. Chestnut Hill responded in the bottom half of the first frame to cut the deficit to one, 3-2.
  • Miguel Vega (Florida, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) answered for Gannon in the second innning with an RBI to send Trey Zeroski (Clinton, Pa./West Allegheny) home, 4-2. The Knights then stretched their lead to 5-2 after Ian Hess (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillian) was able to get home on a wild pitch.
  • After Chestnut Hill added one run in the third, the Knights doubled up the Griffins, 6-3, after Brandan Rea (Washington, Pa./Canon-McMillian) grounded out allowing Mattocks to get home. However, Chestnut Hill then erupted for a 10-run bottom half of the fifth inning and added two insurance runs in the sixth to steal the win, 15-6.
GAME NOTES
  • As a team, Gannon tallied eight hits and five RBI in the contest.
  • Mattocks tallied season-highs in hits (2), runs (2), and RBI (3). He also notched his first career home run.
  • Hess contributed two runs with one hit.
  • Vega posted one hit, one RBI and team-best two stolen bases.
  • Deven Judy (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon Area) got the start on the mound and tossed a game-high six strikeouts over 4.0 innings of work.
  • Benjamin Visnesky (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin Area) also appeared for 1.0 innings with two strikeouts.
  • Brandon Weber (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) finished the final inning and tossed one strikeout.
