The Short Story: The Gannon men's soccer team went on the road and netted a season-high seven goals to earn its first win of the season, 7-1, over Point Park on Friday afternoon at Highmark Stadium.
Sergio Del Castillo (Madrid, Spain/) paced the Golden Knights with a career-high three goals with one assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first 17 minutes of action, Lennox Crews (Offenbach, Germany/Leibnizschule) connected with Dom Knowles (Gold Coast, Australia/The Southport School) for a goal to put Gannon on the scoreboard, 1-0, in the 18th minute. Crews continued his big half finding the back of the net three minutes later to increase the edge to 2-0.
- Gannon then started to pull away as Crews tallied his second goal of the half in the 35th minute, 3-0. The Golden Knights led the break, 3-0, and posted six shots on goal in the frame.
- Gannon continued to surge in the second half as Del Castillo notched a goal to increase the edge to 4-0 in the 52nd minute. Geert Bijl got Point Park on the scoreboard to ruin the shutout, 4-1, at the 71st minute mark.
- The Knights then answered right back one minute later as Del Castillo posted another goal to push the edge up to 5-1. Gannon sealed the game tacking on insurance goals from Tinashe Katsande (Norwich, England/Dereham Sixth Form College) in the 75th minute and Del Castillo in the 77th minute to seal the 7-1 road win.
GAME NOTES
- As a team, Gannon posted 22 total shots, including 11 shots on goal.
- Del Castillo paced the Knights with a career-high three goals. He also added five shots on goal and one assist to his stat line. It marked his second career multi goal game.
- Crews also matched a career-best two goals with a career-high two assists.
- Katsande registered his first goal of the season and fifth of his career.
- David Weber (Sevelen, Switzerland/Liechtensteinisches Gymnasium Vaduz) made his first career start in net and logged four saves over 59 minutes of action.
- David Syntelien (Gjovik, Norway/Gjovik Vinderegaende) closed out the final 30 minutes and posted three saves.
