ERIE, Pa. — The Gannon football team had a big day on National Signing Day 2021, as 23 of the newest Golden Knights signed letters of intent Wednesday.
The group which is just the initial group of the Class of 2021 for the program, features one quarterback, a pair of running backs, three pass-catchers and nine offensive linemen on the offensive side of the ball. Defensively, the Golden Knights inked three linemen and four defensive backs, and also signed a kicker.
A large chunk of the class is from the region, with 11 signees hailing from Pennsylvania, Ohio or New York, but another nine come from Florida, with two from California and one from Washington state.
Sixteen of today's group are current high school seniors, with the other seven mid-year signees from other two- or four-year colleges or 2020 high school graduates who deferred enrollment.
