  • The Short Story: Gannon trailed by as much as 20 points only to storm back outscoring the Wildcats 47-28 in the second half to upset No. 25/RV Daemen, 76-73, on Friday night. Braden Olsen (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) led the Golden Knights with a team-high 19 points to go along with a career-best nine rebounds and game-high seven assists.

  • "I'm so proud the second half effort," said head coach Kelvin Jefferson. "We could have easily quit, but these guys refused to lose. We're still learning each other, but we took a step today against a ranked opponent."
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Daemen didn't waste time opening up a double digit lead, 13-3, following a Kyle Harris jumper. Cyril Ogbuagu (Lagos, Nigeria/Riverdale Baptist (Md.)) answered for Gannon after Olsen found him on the perimeter for a triple, 14-6, at the 13:59 mark. The Wildcats then found an offensive rhythm with a 10-5 run to increase their edge to 13, 24-11.
  • Ike Herster (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) responded for Gannon with a three pointer to make the score 25-16 with 8:33 to play in the first half. Daemen led at the intermission, 45-29. Olsen paced the Knights at the break with six points and four rebounds, while Sean Colosimo (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) also chipped in five points of his own.
  • Daemen began the second half building its largest lead of the game, 53-33, after Andrew Sischo got a layup to drop. Gannon responded with a momentum-swinging 15-5 run featuring three triples from Chris Clancy (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) to cut the deficit to 10, 58-48, with 13:45 on the clock.
  • The Knights continued to apply pressure going on another 12-1 run to pull within three, 63-60, after Robertas Jonaitis (Pakruojis, Lithuania/Greater Beckley Christian School) netted a layup. Following a Kevin Dodds (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) layup and free throw, Olsen once again came up big for Gannon connecting on a jumper to steal the lead, 65-63, with 6:38 to play. The Knights didn't look back and went on to close out the remaining time to pick up the 76-73 win.  
GAME NOTES
  • With the win, Gannon improved to 3-0 and is off to its best start since the 2012-13 season. It also marked the Knights' first win over top 25 opponent since the 2014-15 season and first under head coach Kelvin Jefferson.
  • Gannon outscored Daemen in the second half, 47-28.
  • The Knights shot 49.2 percent from the field and 44.0 percent from three.
  • Gannon scored 36 points in the paint and 15 points off turnovers.
  • The Knights grabbed 32 rebounds, including 25 on the defensive end.
  • Gannon totaled a season-high four blocked shots.
  • Olsen led the Knights with a season-high and team-best 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. He also matched a career-high six free throws to go along with a career-best nine rebounds and game-high seven assists.
  • Dodds contributed 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field with three rebounds and an assist.
  • Clancy reached double digits in scoring for the third straight game with 12 points. He connected on a season-best four three pointers on eight attempts. Clancy also added a season-high five rebounds with three steals and two assists to his stat line.
