HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless first four innings of play, Gannon got on the scoreboard with a four-run fifth inning.  Adam Malecki (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) got the frame started blasting an RBI double down the left field line to make the score 1-0. Trey Zeroski (Clinton, Pa./West Allegheny) followed it up with a single through the right side sending Malecki across, 2-0. After Zeroski scored on an error, Brandon Wetherholt (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars Area) capped the big inning for the Knights with an RBI single to the shortstop to stretch the edge to 4-0.
  • Wilimington responded in the bottom half of the fifth frame to pull within three, 4-1, following Eddie Nevins RBI single down the left side. After a scoreless sixth inning, the Wildcats made one last surge pushing a run across to cut the Knights lead in half, 4-2. However, the Gannon defense held off the rally and went on to pick up its second straight win, 4-2.
