GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon started fast opening up a 3-0 edge in the third inning. Elijah Quiceno (Berryville, Va./Stonebridge) got the scoring started with a RBI single to left field for the game's first run, 1-0. Later in the inning, Adam Malecki (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) stepped up to the plate and delivered a RBI single to left field extending the edge to 2-0. Alex Baldi (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) capped the frame for the Knights connecting on an RBI single to left field to make the score 3-0.
  • St. Cloud State answered back with a three-run fourth inning to lock the contest, 3-3, after Kyle Rodriguez hit a RBI double to right center. The contest then went scoreless for the next three innings until the Huskies once again erupted for a three-run eighth inning to push their edge to 6-3 following a Matt Quade RBI single to center field.
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon posted 10 hits as a team.  
  • Eight different Knights registered at least one hit.
  • Malecki notched a game-high and season-best three hits with one run and one RBI.
  • Eric Sapp (Deerfield, Ohio/Southeast) made his third start of the season and matched a season-high seven strikeouts over 4.2 innings.
  • Matt Manczka (Erie, Pa./McDowell) (0-1) made his first-career appearance out the bullpen for the Knights and tossed seven strikeouts over the final 4.1 innings.
