KEY SEQUENCE
  • A fast start by East Stroudsburg pushed it out to a 6-0 lead, but Gannon settled in to slow down the momentum with goals from Alli Jacobs (Eden, N.Y./Eden) and Rachel Tufts (Erie, Pa./McDowell) just over a minute apart to make it 7-2. The Warriors responded with another run though, netting the next eight goals to wrestle control back on their way to the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • ESU won the opening draw and got on the board in 14 seconds. Tufts nearly evened it a minute later, grabbing the ensuing draw and getting a shot off that Warrior goalie Tatyana Petteway had to save. East Stroudsburg didn't allow a shot over the next four-plus minutes though, as it built its 6-0 advantage.
  • Jacobs put up an impressive individual effort to get the Knights on the board, forcing a turnover, scooping up the ground ball and scoring at the 23:59 mark. ESU would answer, but Tufts converted a free position after Emma Ivory (Cranberry Township, Pa./North Catholic) won the draw to make it 7-2 just over a minute later.
  • A three-goal burst for the Warriors over a 40-second span made it 11-2 with 18 minutes left in the half, and they would stretch that lead to 15-2 with under five to go before Christina Zeher (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) fed Tufts for another tally with 3:06 remaining.
  • Erin Rotondo (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) nearly got Gannon on the board first in the second half, putting a shot on goal just over two minutes in, then firing one just wide a minute later. After a pair of ESU finishes, Tufts added her third of the game at the 21:37 mark to make it 17-4. The sophomore picked up another on a free position in the final two minutes to get to the 20-5 final.

GAME NOTES
  • Gannon fell to 3-1 on the season, but still matched the program's best start through four games since the 2007 team started 7-0.
  • Tufts' four goals led the team. It was the sophomore's ninth career game with at least three scores, including all four games this season. She entered Sunday tied with teammate Courtney Young (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette) for third in the PSAC with 4.25 goals per game.
  • Tufts also added four draw controls and two ground balls. Hayley Latvala (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) led the Knights with three ground balls, and added a caused turnover.
