HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After two scoreless innings to open the contest, Tiffin got the scoreboard first after Cody Orr scored on a throwing error and Jake Shier also scored to put the Dragons in front, 2-0, in the third frame.
  • Deven Judy (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon Area) then went to work the Golden Knights holding the game scoreless over the next three innings. Trey Zeroski (Clinton, Pa./West Allegheny) then connected on an RBI single through the right side which allowed Kieran Gagnon (Mono, Ontario/Westside) to get the Knights on the scoreboard, 2-1, in the seventh frame.
  • However, Tiffin added an insurance run in the ninth inning after Hunter Havekost notched an RBI single to extend their lead to 3-1. The Knights made one final push in the bottom the ninth getting two runners on, but Justin Hamm (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) went down swinging to end the contest.
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon tallied eight hits as a team.
  • Seven different Knights contributed at least one hit.
  • Zeroski registered a team-best two hits with one RBI.
  • Hamm tallied one hit and one stolen base.
  • Judy (0-2) tallied a season-high eight strikeouts over 6.0 innings of work.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Minnesota Crookston started fast opening up a 3-0 lead in the first inning after Scott Finberg connected on a two RBI double. The Golden Eagles tacked on one more run in the fourth frame to extend their lead to 4-0 after Mason Ruhlman delivered a RBI single.
  • Following a scoreless third inning, Minnesota Crookston cracked the game open with a four-run fourth inning to stretch its lead up to 8-0 following a Brock Reller two RBI triple.
  • One inning later, the Golden Eagles put the game out of reach with a seven-run sixth inning to make the score 15-0 after Tyler Jochen posted a RBI single.
  • Ryan Kalbfus (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) provided a late spark for the Knights blasting a two RBI double and sending Ian Hess (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillian) home, 15-1. However, Gannon couldn't put together a comeback and went on to drop the contest, 15-1.

  • Benjamin Visnesky (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin Area) (0-2) got the start and tossed a game-high three strikeouts over 4.0 innings.
