HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gannon had a rough start to Wednesday's game after being held to just three points in the first quarter. Haley Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) put Gannon on the board with a free throw for the first point of the game. Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) connected from the field with 3:43 on the clock for Gannon's only field goal of the first. Edinboro found a little more success putting up eight points in the first. Rana Elhusseini carried the Fighting Scots with six of their eight taking an 8-3 edge into the second.
- The teams woke up in the second quarter pouring in points. Gannon outscored Edinboro 19-17 shooting over 56 percent from the field. Sam Pirosko (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) and Haley Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) stepped up in the second for the Knights scoring their first eight points. Pirosko narrowed the Fighting Scots lead to one with a lapup at the 7:31 mark. Michaela Barnes hit-back-to-back threes quickly extending the lead to seven. Rourke scored five straight points to knot the game 18-18. Barnes and Elhusseini would put EU on their back yet again to take a 25-22 lead into halftime.
- Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) came out of the break scoring five straight points for the Knights. A free throw with 6:53 on the clock would bring Gannon within two of Edinboro. Sydney Mitchell (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) tied the game 24-24 with 1:06 left in the third. Barnes separated the teams with a pair of free throws, but Obenrader fought her way through the paint to match the Fighting Scots 36-36 going into the fourth.
- Mitchell kept Gannon alive in the fourth hitting a three-pointer tying the game 41-41. Rourke followed suit connecting from the arc to give Gannon their first lead since the first quarter. Barnes found her way through the lane for a layup, but it was Poling's turn for a three-pointer with 5:06 left in the fourth edging Edinboro 47-43. Barnes scored four straight points, while Elhisseini beat a defender into the lane to put the Fighting Scots up by two. Poling hit her second three of the quarter to regain the lead for Gannon, but Barnes kept Edinboro alive with another layup. The Knights couldn't convert with nearly 40 seconds left on the clock falling 56-52 to snap their six game win streak.

GAME NOTES
- Rourke led the Knights with 12 points. Wednesday's game marked the first game since Jan. 11 that at least three Gannon players didn't score double-figures. She finished 2-of-3 from the arc and grabbed five rebounds.
- Mitchell finished with nine points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals as she put in work on both ends of the floor tonight. Her four steals fell just one shy of matching her career-best.
- Tewes and Poling each added nine points falling just short of double-figures. Poling was 3-of-6 from three-point range scoring all her points from the arc. Two of her three-pointers came in the fourth quarter.
- Obenrader tallied seven points, six rebounds, one assist, and a steal. The Fighting Scots held her to single digits snapping her 12 game double-figure scoring streak. Obenrader has scored double-figures in all but two games this season.
- The Knights suffered their first loss of the year shooting a higher field goal percentage then their opponent. Before tonight, Gannon was 15-0 when shooting higher than their opponent. Despite shooting 10 percent in the first quarter, the Knights finished the game shooting 40.7 percent, while the Fighting Scots shot 35.7 percent.
- Elhusseini and Barnes nearly outscored Gannon by themselves. Barnes scored a game-best 26 points, while Elhusseini added 24. Three other players scored two points each for Edinboro.
