ERIE, Pa. — The Gannon competitive cheer and dance teams opened their 2020 season with a quick trip across town, putting up solid scores at Penn State Behrend's Spirit Against Cancer competition Saturday less than a month after getting their routines.
The three cheer teams each put up the highest score of all teams competing on the day, although only coed faced competition in its division. All-girl turned in a 90.67 out of 100, with an overall effect of 9.2/10 to put up the highest score of the day.
Coed scored 87.17 to win its division, also adding an overall effect of 9.2/10, and gameday scored an 89.83 with an overall effect of 9.2.
Dance notched an 84 out of 100 in its team performance, and was edged by Point Park in their division. Their hip hop routine was uncontested, with the Knights scoring 62.66 out of 70. Both performances put up performance impression scores of 9/10.
Gannon is back in action in three weeks, heading to the Reach the Beach Collegiate Nationals in Ocean City, Maryland Feb. 22-23.
