  • The Short Story: Pitt-Johnstown buried a game-winning three pointer with two seconds remaining to snap Gannon's three-game winning streak, 82-81, on Monday night. Frank Webb Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Our Lady of Mount Carmel) paced the Knights with a career-best 27 points.
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Pitt-Johnstown jumped out to the early 9-2 edge by the 16:46 mark. Chris Clancy (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's Boys) answered for the Knights to pull within four, 11-7, after he knocked down a triple with 15:41 on the clock. Gannon continued to push cutting the deficit down to two, 13-11, following a layup from DeAnte Cisero (Chicago, Ill./Montgomery County (Ky.)).
  • The Mountain Cats then controlled the pace with a 9-4 run to push their lead back up to seven, 22-15. Maximiliano Andreatta (Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina/Colegio Informático) then came off the bench to drain a three, 22-18, with 10:07 to play in the half. After four straight points from UPJ, Gannon erupted with a 9-2 run to pull within one, 28-27, at the 6:09 mark. The Knights hit on three straight triples with two from Clancy and one from Webb to fuel the streak. However, Pitt-Johnstown held the advantage at the break, 40-39. Clancy led all scorers at the intermission with 12 points.
  • The Knights wasted no time in the second half and claimed their first lead of the night, 41-40, after Webb connected on a layup. Gannon then slowly built a five point edge, 53-48, after Victor Olawoye (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) drained a layup with 14:37 remaining. The Knights then stole the momentum after Webb collected a rebound and went coast-to-coast for a layup, 63-54, at the 11:29 mark.
  • The Mountain Cats didn't go away and battled back with a 13-3 run to steal the lead back, 67-66, with 7:18 to play. After the teams traded possessions, Olawoye answered for the Knights with a clutch layup to lock the contest, 75-75, with 2:01 remaining. Both teams then trade buckets until Joe Batt buried the game-winning three pointer, 82-81, with two seconds to play. The Knights were unable to convert the final inbound play and went on drop the contest, 82-81.
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon shot 29-of-57 from the field and 10-of-14 from the three as a team. The Knights' 10 three pointers matched a season-high.
  • Gannon collected 30 rebounds as a team in comparison to Pitt-Johnstown's 35.
  • The second half featured five lead changes.
  • Four Knights posted double digits in scoring.
  • Webb netted a career-high and game-best 27 points. He also added nine rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block to his stat line. It marked his third 20-point and eighth game reaching double digits in scoring this season.
  • Cisero netted double figures in scoring in his fourth straight game with 16 points. He also contributed three steals, two rebounds and one assist.
  • Clancy totaled 14 points with one rebound and one steal. He shot 4-of-4 from three and has connected on at least four triples in six games this season. It marked his seventh double figure scoring game of the season.
  • Olawoye rounded out the top performers with 13 points. He also chipped in three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Olawaye has also produced seven double digit scoring games this season.
