  • The Short Story: Gannon trailed by three at halftime, but could not complete the upset bid of No. 9 Indiana on Saturday falling, 85-64. DeAnte Cisero (Chicago, Ill./Montgomery County (Ky.)) paced the Golden Knights reaching double figures in scoring for the sixth straight game with 17 points.
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Indiana controlled the pace early opening up an 8-2 edge by the 15:23 mark to force a Gannon timeout. The Knights then settled into the contest assembling a 7-2 run to claim their first lead of the night, 11-10, after Javier Valeiras (La Gomera, Spain/IES Felo Monzon) drained a jumper with 12:02 on the clock. Gannon continued to push stretching its lead up to four, 23-19, following a layup from DeAnte Cisero (Chicago, Ill./Montgomery County (Ky.)).
  • The Crimson Hawks responded to build a 7-0 run of their own to regain the edge, 26-23, with 3:25 to play in the half. Gannon trailed at the break, 33-30, after Indiana connected on a three as time expired in the first half. Both teams hauled in 17 rebounds each in the first frame and Frank Webb Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Our Lady of Mount Carmel) paced the Knights with eight points and five rebounds.
  • Both teams traded points in the second half until the Crimson Hawks slowly built a nine point edge, 55-46, with 12:04 to play. Indiana kept its foot on gas extending its lead up to 15, 63-48, after Malik Miller connected on a triple. Cisero answered for the Knights knocking down a jumper to make the score 66-52 at the 8:39 mark.
  • Coming out of the media timeout, Indiana started to pull away increasing their lead up to 74-54 with 6:30 to play. Gannon responded with five straight points of their own after Webb netted a three and Cisero tipped in a bucket to pull within 15, 74-59, with 5:38 remaining. However, Gannon couldn't cut the deficit down any further and went on to drop the contest, 85-64.
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon pulled in 29 rebounds as a team, including 20 on the defensive end of the floor.
  • The Knights shot 41.9 percent (26-62) from the field and 72.7 percent (8-11) from the free throw line.
  • Gannon generated seven steals as a team. Five different Knights contributed at least one steal in the contest.
  • Cisero reached double digits in scoring for the sixth straight game with a team-high 17 points. He also added three rebounds, one assist and one steal to his stat line.
  • Webb tallied 15 points with a team-high five rebounds. He also added in one assist and one steal. It marked his team-leading 10th double digit scoring game of the season.
  • Matt Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) posted his second straight game reaching double digits in scoring with 10 points. He also added three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
