HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Justin Hamm (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) hustled down to first to begin the game, ultimately reaching on an error. He rounded third and scored on a Jared Beach (McDonald, Pa./Canon-McMillan) single to right for a 1-0 lead. West Chester responded in its first trip to the plate, tying the game on a fielder's choice.
  • Cory Hegedus (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) cruised through the bottom of the second, sending the Golden Rams down in order. The Golden Rams eventually cashed in during the bottom of the third with four runs, including a three-run homer, for a 5-1 lead.
  • Matthew Yough (Chicora, Pa./Karns City) entered the game in the fourth and fired three straight scoreless innings. The Golden Knights turned a double play to end the fifth before Yough took a liner off the shoulder and recovered to toss out a runner at first in the sixth.
  • The Golden Rams expanded the lead with six more runs in the seventh for an 11-1 edge, finishing the game with a run-rule victory.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon's offense sputtered with just four hits in the game.
  • Four pitchers saw time on the mound for the Golden Knights.
  • Yough allowed just one hit in his three innings.
  • Dominic Mori (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) posted two of Gannon's four hits.
  • Today's morning game was originally set for yesterday before rain forced a postponement in Johnstown.
