  • The Edinboro softball team handed Gannon a 5-2 defeat Saturday afternoon, snapping a seven-game winning streak for the Lady Knights.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Edinboro got out to a two-run lead in the first inning with RBI singles by Olivia Jankowski and Roni Lipinski.
  • The Fighting Scots built on their lead in the third with Courtney Allen's two-run home run to right field, her second of the year.
  • Gannon got two runs back in the fifth with Kaity Stocker's (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) two-run homer to left, her team-high ninth of the season.
  • In the sixth, Edinboro's Brittany Allen hit her fourth homer of the year to right field to make it 5-2.

  • Sarah Ingerick (Middlebury Center, Pa./Wellsboro Area) led the Lady Knights with two hits, including her 10th double of the year.
  • Stocker recorded two RBI in her team-high eighth multiple-RBI performance of the season.

  • The Gannon softball team locked up its ninth consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament berth Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 win at Edinboro.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Like game one, the Fighting Scots got out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
  • Stocker drew a bases-loaded walk to cut it to one run in the third.
  • The next at-bat, Gannon went up 3-2 when Maria Taliani (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) scored Kristina DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) and Ingerick on a single up the middle.
  • In the sixth, Megan Dietrick (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) drove in Perich with a double down the left field line.
  • Ingerick capped the four-run sixth inning with a three-run homer to right field, her fifth of the season.
