KEY SEQUENCE
  • Seton Hill broke a scoreless tie in the seventh inning with the help of three hits to beat the Gannon softball team 3-0 in game one of a PSAC doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both Gannon and Seton Hill had just two hits apiece heading into the final inning of the game.
  • In the seventh, Jenna Osikowicz scored Brooke Bower on a triple down the right field line. Christiana Skrabak made it 2-0 with an infield ground-out. Chelsea Rohan capped the inning with a solo home run to center field.
  • Gannon recorded two hits in the bottom of the inning but had back-to-back fly outs to the outfield to wrap up the game.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Taylor Wilp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) led Gannon with two hits including a double.
  • Kellyn Perich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) had a double while Sarah Ingerick (Middlebury Center, Pa./Wellsboro Area) had a single.
  • Madi Beining (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) struck out two in the loss.
  • Seton Hill out-hit Gannon, 5-4.
  • Gannon committed one error.

KEY SEQUENCE
  • Seton Hill claimed a 4-2 win against the Gannon softball team Tuesday afternoon to sweep the Lady Knights for the first time since 2016.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Seton Hill got out to a 3-0 lead with one run in the first and two more in the second.
  • In the bottom of the second, Wilp drove in Rachel Tanilli (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) with a base hit up the middle. Kristina DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) drew a bases-loaded walk to score Perich and make it 3-2.
  • Gannon was limited to just one hit for the remainder of the game.
  • Osikowicz scored another run in the seventh inning with an inside the park homer to center field.    
 
GAME NOTES
  • DeMatteis, Ingerick, Tanilli, Perich and Wilp had one hit apiece.
  • Seton Hill out-hit Gannon, 8-5.
  • The Griffins had one error.
  • Kennedy DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) recorded three strikeouts in the loss.

  • Gannon suffered its fifth shutout loss of the season.
  • Lisa Szajn (Maple, Ontario/St. Joan of Arc Catholic) has reached base safely in 12 consecutive games.
