GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
KEY SEQUENCE
  • An entertaining, back-and-forth opening half extended to the early part of the second period as Gannon tied it up 7-7, but Seton Hill found another gear offensively, finding the back of the net four times in a span of less than two minutes to build a comfortable four-goal lead with 25 minutes to play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Seton Hill netted the first two goals of the game before Gannon got the ball for the first time, but the Lady Knights didn't panic. An Erin Renwick (Islip, N.Y./Islip) save got the ball back to the hosts, and Erin Rotondo (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) scored shortly after a free position to get Gannon on the board less than five minutes in.
  • Rotondo didn't take long to follow that up, taking advantage of a turnover to grab another unassisted tally. The Griffins would respond, but Rotondo again wouldn't be denied, dodging a defender and muscling her way through for another score. Alexa Bower (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) tied it at four for the Knights, this time getting the feed from Rotondo to draw event just over 10 minutes in.
  • The wild start kept going, and Rotondo's fourth score of the game was yet another equalizer, this time at the 16:36 mark. SHU responded to go ahead before an offensive lull that saw just three shots in a nine-minute period before the Griffins pushed ahead by two. Ivy Carey (Buffalo, N.Y./Williamsville South) kept Gannon from going to the locker rooms down by that score, putting home a free position goal with seven ticks left.
  • A ground ball from Maura McCabe (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) after a Seton Hill turnover early in the second half led to Kayla Shields' (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) tally to make it 7-7 just 69 seconds into the half. A couple minutes later, the Griffins went back in front, and some crisp passing from the guests and a solid draw control game allowed them to build an 11-7 edge by the 25:18 mark.
  • Bower's free position score temporarily stopped the momentum, but Seton Hill flipped the switch again, winning five of the next six draws and not turning the ball over to score six straight and a 17-8 lead at the midway point of the half. Haylee Tatar (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier) would get the Knights back on the board to make it 17-9 after a nice possession for Gannon, but the visitors rang up the last three goals of the game.

GAME NOTES
  • Rotondo's fourth and final goal was the 100th of her collegiate career. The junior is tied for 18th in Gannon program history, and got there in just 43 games.
  • Tatar's goal in the second half was the first of her career for the freshman.
  • Gannon scored on an efficient 6-of-10 shots in the first half, while the Griffins notched goals on just 7-of-20. Those percentages turned around in the second half, with SHU scoring on 13-of-25.
  • Bower turned in multiple goals for the first time since also netting two against Shippensburg March 16.
  • Erin Renwick (Islip, N.Y./Islip) faced a season-high 45 shots against the Griffins, and matched that with a career-high 18 saves, her seventh straight game with at least 11 stops.

UP NEXT
  • Gannon continues its homestand Saturday morning, hosting Millersville for Senior Day.
  • The 10 a.m. first draw from McConnell Family Stadium will feature live video and live stats.
  • The Lady Knights are 13-5 all-time against the Marauders.
  • Millersville is 8-6 (6-3 PSAC) this season after snapping a three-game skid with an impressive 16-6 victory over Kutztown Tuesday.
