KEY SEQUENCE
  • Rachel Tufts (Erie, Pa./McDowell) got the Lady Knights on the board with two scores less than three minutes apart. The Warriors answered quickly to make it 9-2, but was followed an extended offensive lull before the hosts closed the half with five scores in the final eight minutes to take control.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon won the opening draw control and got off the first shot of the game from Alexa Bower (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton), but ESU netted the game's first goal on the next possession. The Warriors went on a run from there, holding a 5-0 lead before Erin Rotondo (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) forced a turnover that led to a pair of offensive chances for the Lady Knights.
  • Tufts snapped the East Stroudsburg run with a score off an Erin DiPirro (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary's) assist at the 21:31 mark, and despite a pair of scores from the Warriors over the next two minutes, the freshman added another on a free position with 18:51 on the clock to cut it to 8-2.
  • The hosts scored 30 seconds later, but then a long stretch of stifling defense, as the teams combined for just five shots over the next 10-plus minutes. ESU closed the half with a flourish to build its 14-2 lead at the half.
  • Shots from Bower, Rotondo and Caroline Mauck (Martinsville, Ind./Mooresville) gave the Lady Knights chances in the first part of the second half, but the hosts scored twice after a slow first five minutes. A four-goal burst helped the Warriors extend the lead, but Gannon closed the game with a finish from Courtney Young (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette), which started on a caused turnover by Maura McCabe (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park).

  • Erin Renwick (Islip, N.Y./Islip) notched 11 saves, her sixth straight game with at least 11 stops.
