  • The University of Findlay plated two runs in the top of the third inning and maintained that lead to claim a 2-0 win over the 25th-ranked Gannon University softball team Tuesday afternoon at the Osceola Softball Complex in Clermont, Florida.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Findlay capitalized on a Gannon fielding error in the third inning to score the first run of the game. UF's Rebecca Harvey hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield the next at-bat to record the other run for the Oilers.
  • Gannon left four runners on base in the final four innings but could not plate a run in the first scoreless loss of the season.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon and Findlay split an even 10 hits.
  • Kellyn Perich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township), Sarah Ingerick (Middlebury Center, Pa./Wellsboro Area), Rachel Tanilli (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes), Lisa Szajn (Maple, Ontario/St. Joan of Arc Catholic) and Autumn Smith (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) all recorded individual hits for the Lady Knights.
  • Starting pitcher Kennedy DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) took her first loss of the season. She struck out four and surrendered two runs.

  • Despite out-hitting No. 1 Saint Anselm College 9-7, the 25th-ranked Gannon University softball team suffered a 3-0 loss Tuesday afternoon at the Osceola Softball Complex in Clermont, Florida.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon held Saint Anselm hitless for the first two innings before surrendering three hits and two runs in the third.
  • The Hawks added to their lead in the fourth inning with Kaleight Scoville's RBI double down the left field line.
  • The Lady Knights recorded four hits and left four on base in the remaining three innings but were unable to score a run for the second straight game.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Gannon out-hit Saint Anselm, 9-7.
  • Kaity Stocker (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe), Ingerick, Tanilli and Smith all had two hits apiece.
  • Perich recorded Gannon's other hit.
  • Madi Beining (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) struck out two batters in the loss.
