AROUND THE LEAGUE SERIES HISTORY
  • All-Time Series: IUP leads 26-22
  • First Meeting: March 6, 1958: Indiana 97, Gannon 90
  • Last Meeting: January 2, 2019: Indiana 78, Gannon 57
  • How It Happened: The Golden Knights did a decent job of sticking with what was then an undefeated IUP squad on its home floor, leading midway through the first half and getting to within a point in the final minutes before halftime, but a 10-point burst from the Crimson Hawks late in the first half, and another 14-3 run early in the second proved to be the difference. DeAnte Cisero (Chicago, Ill./Montgomery County (Ky.)) netted a career-high 17 points to go with eight rebounds.

GANNON STORYLINES
  • Gannon continues its run of four out of five games at home by hosting the top team in the conference in IUP. The Golden Knights are coming off of back-to-back losses, both to teams that found a groove offensively while limiting Gannon on its own end.
  • DeAnte Cisero (Chicago, Ill./Montgomery County (Ky.)) has pushed his streak of double-digit scoring to four games with 12 points on Wednesday. The junior is averaging 12.5 points and 7.3 rebounds over those four games, leading to his first start in over a month against Seton Hill.
  • Wednesday's game was a tale of two halves for the Knights, who shot 51.7 percent in the first half, but just 15.6 percent after the intermission.
  • Victor Olawoye (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) has followed up his 21-point effort against Slippery Rock last week with a pair of solid 10-point games.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON HAWKS
  • The No. 6/6 Hawks bounced back in a big way Wednesday, bouncing back from its second loss of the season by avenging its first defeat with a 77-48 knockdown of Slippery Rock.
  • IUP has been through a gauntlet as of late, hosting Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock to begin the second half of the season. Those two headed into February as the two closest teams to the Crimson Hawks in the standings, and the Lakers handed IUP its first loss of the season on its home court last Saturday.
  • The stingy Mercyhurst defense did its damage against the Hawks, holding them to just 63 points, their second-lowest output on the season. IUP had scored at least 74 points in 18 of their 21 games heading into Saturday.
  • IUP is in the top half of nearly every team statistical category in the PSAC, and in the top third in a number. That includes second in the conference and seventh in the country with a +15.4 scoring margin.
  • The Crimson Hawks have tightened up on the defensive end, holding five of its last six opponents to under 38 percent shooting. That while their offense has topped 50 percent nine times and 46 percent a total of 16 times in 22 games.
  • Jacobo Diaz (19.1 ppg), Malik Miller (17.1 ppg) and Dante Lombardi (15.8 ppg) give IUP three of the top 20 scorers in the conference. Any can go off on a given day, as each has led the team in scoring in at least seven games.

UP NEXT
  • Gannon heads to California (Pa.) for its lone roadtrip during the home-heavy portion of its schedule, facing off against the Vulcans Wednesday evening.
