Gannon Football Announces Initial 30-Man Recruiting Class On National Signing Day (Highlights)

ERIE, Pa. — Gannon football coach Brad Rzyczycki and his staff has announced the first wave of their 2019 recruiting class, welcoming 30 players to the Golden Knight program on Wednesday morning, the first day high school players can officially sign National Letters of Intent with NCAA programs.

The 30-player class includes 11 defensive backs or linebackers, 11 offensive skill players and eight offensive or defensive linemen. Of the signees, nine are from Pennsylvania, eight from Ohio, eight from Maryland, two each from New York and Florida, and one from Delaware.

These signees will help bolster a Golden Knight team that is returning 12 players who started at least eight games, another four that earned at least four starts, and an additional nine student-athletes who saw action in at least 10 games.

Gannon saw its 2018 team succeed on the field and in the classroom this fall, placing six individuals on the All-PSAC West team, and earning three Google Cloud Academic All-District honors and two Academic All-America selections. In addition, Marcus Jones (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) capped his senior season with three different organizations bestowing All-America status to the running back.
