The Short Story: Gannon got out to a quick start, opening up the game with a 5-2 advantage and took control from there, blitzing the Washington & Jefferson Presidents with 21 goals in a convincing 21-6 road triumph to open weekend play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Gannon got contributions from throughout the lineup, smothering W&J early and often before pulling away for the victory.
The Lady Knights led 5-2 after the first period and used a balanced scoring attack to continue applying offensive pressure.
Gannon pulled ahead comfortably in the second half, cruising to the victory.

GAME NOTES

Gannon's 21 goals in a game are just two shy of the program record, set back in 2006 and 2004 against nearby Penn State Behrend.
Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) was active across the board, with four goals and a team-high five steals.
Campbell Ruh (Walnut, Calif./Lutheran High School of Orange County) passed out four assists while adding two goals on four shots.
Julia Kredinger (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) ripped seven shots and buried three of them.
Isabelle Vieira (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) made seven saves in goal along with two steals.

The Short Story: The Gannon Lady Knights traded blows with NCAA Division I Villanova and Julia Kredigner converted a late power play goal to pull Gannon to within one, but the Wildcats held on for the narrow 14-13 decision on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Campbell Ruh (Walnut, Calif./Lutheran High School of Orange County) struck first, putting the Lady Knight in front early, but Villanova roared back with four consecutive goals. Ruh helped Gannon head into the second frame with some momentum, converting just as time expired in the first.
Villanova scored the opening two goals in the second before Sydney Fountain (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) answered back at 5:10 for the Lady Knights. The Wildcats scored on more goal in the first half at 4:53, but Kelly Fehr (Erie, Pa./Villia Maria) found the goal twice (4:00, 3:19) while Fountain, Kredigner and Ruh scored to cap a big rally to end the first half as Gannon led 8-7.
After trading goals to start the second half, Villanova scored four straight goals to regain the lead. The Lady Knights outscored the Wildcats 4-2 in the frame, but Villanova had just enough offense to hold on for the win.
