HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Marauders took an early lead vs. the Knights with a three-pointer off the tip. Olivia Mottern connected from the arc just over 15 seconds into the game. Boston McKinney (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) came right back down the floor and hit a three-pointer for Gannon, which was the first of three ties the first quarter would see. Delaney Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) knocked down a free throw with 2 minutes left in the quarter to spark a 7-2 run to end the first. Emily Poling (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance) and Sydney Mitchell (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) each hit a three in the final minutes.
- Gannon extended their lead in the second to double-figures. They led by 12 points on five different occasions. A pair of free throws from Obenrader just under two minutes remaining gave the Knights their final 12-point lead before Millersville used a three-point play and a three-pointer from Lauren Lister to climb back within eight at the half.
- The Knights took full control of the game in the third quarter using a 7-0 run midway through to take their largest lead of the game. Obenrader sparked the run followed by a three-pointer from Sam Pirosko (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North). Mitchell hit a layup to finish the run and give Gannon a60-45 edge at the 4:54 mark. Back-to-back layups to end the third brought Gannon's lead down to 12 points.
- Samantha Brusha hit a three at the 5:45 mark of the fourth quarter to bring the Marauders within seven points of the Knights. That would be the closest Millersville got as the Knights went on a 15-6 run in the final five minutes pulling away for their fourth straight win.
