GAME DAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon wasted little time doubling up IUP, 6-3, after a Lauren Sampson (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) kill. The Knights then stretched their lead up to seven, 17-10, following a block by Sampson and Ashley Kerestes (Loves Park, Ill./Rockford Lutheran). Gannon won the opening frame, 25-17.
  • Both teams traded points in the second set until the Knights were able to build a four point, 16-12, edge to force a Crimson Hawk timeout. Gannon then capitalized on IUP set errors to close the set on a 5-0 run. The Knights won the second frame, 25-15.
  • The Crimson Hawks pushed back in the third frame locking the score at 4-4. Gannon responded with a 5-1 run highlighted by two kills from Sampson to make the score 9-5. The Knights then put the frame out of reach, 19-14, after Johanna Gregory (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) connected on a kill from Beyers. Gannon went on to close out the frame, 25-19.
