HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Knights didn't waste any time Wednesday. Lennox Crews (Offenbach, Germany/Leibnizschule) struck first at the 1:26 mark. He shot the goal on a pass from Ivan Manfredi (Chiavari, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Marconi Delpino) at the top left of the box.
  • Katsande scored next for the Knights just over a minute later. After several blocked Gannon shots, Ben Andrews (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) used one touch off a deflection to get the ball to Katsande in the goal box who sent another past the goalkeeper. Katsande scored again in the 17th minute.
  • Andrews recorded the next goal just after the opening of the match. He used a fast break into the box to put the Knights up 3-0 just four minutes into the match.
  • Say was the second Gannon player to record two goals in the match. Say scored in the 32nd minute giving the Knights a 5-0 edge. Sergio Del Castillo (Madrid, Spain) sent a pass into the goal box from the left baseline. Say sent it in for the goal. Say scored in the 55th minute on a penalty kick to record his second goal of the match.
  • Manfredi (42') and Joe Knox (Gold Coast, Australia/The Southport School) (66') rounded out Gannon's scoring in the second half.
  • Alex Laslavic scored UPJ's only goal of the match with 40 seconds left in the match on a free kick to avoid the shutout for the Mountain Cats.
