  • The Short Story: Gannon used a fast start to blank Slippery Rock, 3-0, Friday night. Ashley Beyers (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) handed out a match-best 39 assists, while Ally Smith (Penfield, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) contributed a match-high 15 kills.
 GAME DAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon wasted little time taking control jumping out to a 7-2 lead to force a Slippery Rock timeout. The Lady Knights then expanded their lead up to nine, 20-11. Gannon went on to take the frame, 25-15. Beyers handed out 15 assists, while Smith totaled five kills in the set.
  • Slippery Rock fought back in the second frame with an early 6-3 edge. Gannon then stormed back stealing the lead, 9-7, after back-to-back kills from Lauren Sampson (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson). The Lady Knights didn't look back from there and went on to double up Slippery Rock, 14-7, following a kill from Maggie Greenfield (Woodstock, Ontario/Woodstock Collegiate Institute). Gannon won the second set, 25-13.
  • Gannon continued to apply pressure into the third frame creating a 9-7 edge after Smith smashed a kill past the Slippery Rock defense. The Knights then sealed the frame stretching their lead to nine, 18-11. Gannon went on to win the set, 25-16.
GAME NOTES
  • The Knights recorded their second straight and 11th sweep of the season.
  • Gannon has a 10-0 mark at home this season. The Knights last regular season home loss came on Oct. 28, 2017 against East Stroudsburg.
  • Gannon held the edge in kills (50-26), assists (45-26) and digs (54-49) The Knights also posted a .381 hitting percentage.
  • Ashley Beyers (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) handed out a match-best 39 assists. She also added seven digs and four kills.
  • Smith tallied a match-high 15 kills to go along with eight digs and two assists.
  • Sampson notched a match-best 14 digs with eight kills.
  • Seven different Knights registered at least three kills in the match.

  • Gannon returns to action tomorrow in a nonconference match at Findlay. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
