Women's Wrestling Earns Program's First Dual Victory To End Trip To National Duals

Event: NWCA National Duals | Host: Louisville Exposition Center (Louisville, Ky.)
Result: Gannon finished tied for ninth in 12-team field
The Short Story: A tough 0-2 day against two teams that finished in the top 10 at last year's national tournament ended with a bright spot, as the Lady Knights collected the first dual victory in program history with a 22-11 win over Nassau Community College.

Gannon won the only two contested bouts against Nassau, with Gabby Perez (Honolulu, Hawaii/Moanalua) earning a 10-0 tech fall and Stephanie Floor (Pago Pago, American Samoa/Leone) grabbing a tight 3-2 win. With three weights going without a wrestler from either side and the Lady Knights also earning three forfeits, they secured the first dual victory in program history in the first year of competition.
Floor and her twin sister Danielle both made their debut after joining the team after the fall semester.
The two teams Gannon fell to in the bracketed competition both finished in the top 10 of the team standings at last year's Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association national tournament, including defending national champion Campbellsville.
The tech fall from Perez was her sixth of the season, with half of her wins on the year coming by tech.

UP NEXT

Gannon will follow up its first dual win with its first home competition next week, as the Lady Knights host Nassau and Tiffin at the Gannon Tri-Duals at the Hammermill Center beginning at 4 p.m. Jan. 12.
