KEY SEQUENCE
  • Gannon took control early, opening up a double digit lead in the first quarter, and Nicole LaCava (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) buried a jumper at the foul line as the third quarter expired to lift the Lady Knights to a 57-41 lead. It was part of a career day for LaCava in her 100th career collegiate game, as she notched a career-high 29 points along with a season-best 12 rebounds on 13-of-19 shooting.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Seton Hill notched the first bucket of the afternoon, but Gannon responded with points in each of its next three offensive possessions for a 6-2 lead. Lauren Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) recorded a pair of layups and Sydney Mitchell (Halethorpe, Md./Seton Keough) followed it up with two foul shots in the opening run.
  • Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) converted a three out of the media timeout at the 4:09 mark of the opening quarter, lifting Gannon to an 11-4 advantage. The basket sparked an 8-4 Gannon run to end the opening quarter as the Lady Knights led 19-8.
  • Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) lined up a straightaway three to push the Gannon advantage to 12 at 22-10 with 8:50 left in the first half. Mitchell followed a steal on the defensive end with a three on the other end off the floor off a pass from L. Tewes to help Gannon surge ahead 31-14.
  • Haley Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) converted inside at 4:14 and LaCava ballooned the Gannon lead to its largest margin of the half at 19 points with a lay-in at 3:41 for a 35-16 edge. LaCava scored two of the final three buckets in the first half and the visitors took a 41-24 lead into the intermission.
  • LaCava picked up where she left off in the second half and stole the show in the third quarter, scoring the first 10 points of the frame for Gannon. She later handed the Lady Knights their largest lead of the game at 21 points with a bucket at the 3:35 mark and knocked down a jumper as time expired in the third to put Gannon ahead 57-41.
  • Seton Hill trimmed the Gannon lead to 10 points with a quick run in the fourth quarter. Gannon rallied back with an 8-0 run of its own, pushing the pace with several transition buckets. Seton Hill got to within nine points (63-72) but Ivana Twumasi (Jane and Finch, Ontario/Central Tech) answered for Gannon just 11 seconds later to push the Lady Knights back in front by double figures.

GAME NOTES
  • Saturday was the first double-double of the season for LaCava. She previously set her career-high in scoring back on January 8, 2018 with 23 points against Seton Hill.
  • Rourke is the only other player to score at least 20 points in a game this season for the Lady Knights, notching that mark against Fairmont State on November 14.
  • The Lady Knights posted their third best shooting percentage from the floor this season at 52.5%, while limiting Seton Hill to just 32.4% from the floor in the game.
  • Gannon used great balance offensively in the first half and it carried over into the third and fourth quarters as well. Mitchell finished in double-figures with 11 points while Rourke (9), L. Tewes (8), and Obenrader (7) all chipped in offensively as Gannon was building its lead.
  • The Lady Knights limited Megan Marecic to just 11 points on 4-16 shooting. She entered the contest averaging 18 points/game, a mark that ranked eighth in the PSAC.
  • Seton Hill did not attempt a foul shot in the opening half, while Gannon went 4-of-5 from the charity stripe in the first two quarters.
  • Gannon executed its offense in the first half and all eight players that saw the floor scored a basket in the opening 20 minutes. The Lady Knights went 17-of-29 (58.6%) from the floor and held the Griffins to 11-of-34 (32.4%) shooting in the first half.
  • In total, 11 of 12 players that saw the floor for Gannon registered a point. Delaney Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) also made her season debut, appearing late in the contest for her first college action.
  • Saturday's contest was a rematch of the PSAC Tournament First Round between Seton Hill and Gannon. The Griffins earned a 78-65 home victory over the Lady Knights, marking the first playoff victory for Seton Hill since joining the PSAC.
  • Seton Hill assistant coach Kelley Sundberg is a former Lady Knight who started in 107 games at Gannon throughout her four-year playing career.
