  • The Short Story – The Gannon men's soccer team held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks, but ultimately dropped the 2018 season opener to Notre Dame (Ohio) by a final score of 4-0. The host Falcons scored a pair of goals in each half to secure the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon opened the match with shots from senior Eduardo de Bonis Encinoso (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain/Escuelas Pias Tenerife) at 3:41 and freshman Martin Nord-Varhaug Aanestad (Varhaug, Norway/Bryne Videregaende Skule) at 6:46.
  • Notre Dame scored a pair of first half goals just over three minutes apart. Paolo Termine opened the scoring with a header at 24:07 and David Torralba put the hosts up 2-0 at 27:29.
  • The Golden Knights got off to a fast start in the second half with a shot from freshman Joe Knox (Gold Coast, Australia/The Southport School) at 46:19.
  • Connor Russo countered back for Notre Dame with a goal at 49:09 for a 3-0 advantage.
