GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The game began in a weather delay, postponing the start of the game approximately 30 minutes.
  • Once play got underway at 2 p.m., Cash Gladfelter began the top of the first with a single and was advanced to second after a Nick Spangler single.
  • Dalton Hoiles knocked in the first run of the game with the third single of the game and Grant Hoover plated the second run. Shippensburg led 2-0 after one inning.
  • Gannon had Gregory Nicolia (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) and Charles Benack (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) aboard in the third inning before the skies opened up and delayed the game for a second time. The time of the delay was approximately one hour and fifteen minutes as the game resumed at 4:40 p.m. The Golden Knights couldn't keep the momentum of the inning alive after the rains and left the runners stranded.
  • Shippensburg wasted no time in adding to its lead, collecting two in the fourth and four in the fifth innings.
  • The Raiders led 8-0 after five frames.
  • Gannon tallied its first run in the eighth inning. Benack led off the inning with a double down the right field line and Kyle Cox (Dorchester, N.J./Millville) swatted him in with a single up the middle. Gannon trailed 8-1.
  • The Golden Knights tacked on another run in the ninth, with Matt Oruch (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) on third, Mike Colosi (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) drove a ball to center scoring Oruch on a sacrifice fly.
  • Gannon couldn't complete the rally, though, falling by an 8-2 final.
