GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Roberts Wesleyan opened the contest with three consecutive goals while holding Gannon scoreless for the opening six minutes and 22 seconds.
  • The Lady Knights finally dented the scoring column when junior Micaela Capozzo (Medford, Mass./Pinkerton Academy) scored off an assist from King who followed with an unassisted goal 93 seconds later.
  • The home squad extended its lead to 5-2, before Gannon ripped off three straight goals to knot the match at five. Rotondo ignited the run with a free-position goal, before King added another unassisted score. Junior Alexa Bower (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) then tied the contest with a free-position goal midway through the first half.
  • After another tie at six, Roberts Wesleyan regained the momentum with another mini 3-0 run to grab a 9-6 advantage with 4:47 left in the first half.
  • It was part of a 5-1 scoring difference during the final 10:24 of the first half, including two goals during the final 44 seconds to push the Redhawks into the intermission with an 11-7 lead.
  • Roberts Wesleyan tacked on one more goal at the beginning of the second half, but Gannon started to make its move at that point.
  • The Lady Knights netted four consecutive goals, cutting the deficit to 12-11 after back-to-back unassisted scores from Rotondo.
  • Gannon held Roberts Wesleyan scoreless for eight minutes and 50 seconds until the Redhawks scored again at the 17:24 mark.
  • The Lady Knights countered with three more goals to grab a 14-13 lead, forging ahead for the first time on a goal by freshman Maddie Krock (Granville, Ohio/Granville) with 12:12 remaining. In all, it was a 7-1 blitz over the span of 11 minutes and 59 seconds.
  • The two teams battled to ties of 13, 14, 15 and 16. The final deadlock came after King found the back of the net for the sixth time with 1:26 to play.
  • Both teams had a possession during the final 96 seconds of regulation, but were unable to score and went to overtime.
  • King won the sudden-victory overtime draw, but the Lady Knights were unable to produce the game-winner.
  • Roberts Wesleyan regained possession and eventually won on multiple second-chances. Freshman Erin Renwick (Islip, N.Y./Islip) made two consecutive saves, but the Redhawks retain control with ground ball pick-ups both times. The second one led to Alyssa Maxwell's game-winning goal seven seconds later, drawing an end to the barn burner with 49 seconds left in overtime.
