GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After three ties and a couple lead changes during the opening six minutes, Indiana (Pa.) used a 7-0 run to forge ahead 11-6 with 13:34 left in the first half.
  • The Crimson Hawks' lead hovered between three and five points for the next three minutes and 17 seconds.
  • IUP extended its 19-16 advantage to a nine-point difference with back-to-back three-pointers midway through the first half.
  • The Crimson Hawks' biggest lead of the first half came at 33-22 with 4:35 showing on the clock.
  • Junior Evan Phoenix (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) sandwiched a basket by senior Damon Miraud (Elizabeth, N.J./Elizabeth) between his own four points to draw within 33-28, but Indiana (Pa.) eventually built its lead to 39-30 at the break.
  • Gannon again cut the deficit to five points after senior Jair Green (Williamstown, N.J./Paul VI) opened the second half with consecutive lay-ups.
  • Leading 45-39, Indiana (Pa.) generated the run that ultimately decided the game.
  • The Crimson Hawks ripped off nine straight points to build a 54-39 edge at the 14:51 mark. The lead ballooned to 57-40 after Jacobo Diaz's three-pointer 36 seconds later.
  • Gannon tried to rally with an 8-1 run that cut the deficit to 64-57 with 5:13 to play. The stretch began with a pair of long-range bombs from senior Zay Jackson (Queens, N.Y./Westside), before Miraud converted a lay-up.
  • However, IUP fended off every rally attempt the rest of the way. The Golden Knights cut the deficit to seven points on five different occasions during the final 5:13, but got closer only once.
  • Another three-pointer by Jackson cut the difference to 72-66 with 1:11 remaining, but two IUP free throws combined with Gannon going scoreless during its final three offensive possessions gave the Crimson Hawks a 74-66 victory.
