GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Madi Beining (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was sensational in the circle against Lake Erie on Tuesday.
  • She began the game by inducing three ground balls in the first inning, retiring the side in under 10 pitches.
  • Perich and Ingerick had back-to-back hits in the top of the third inning as Gannon made some noise but the runners were left stranded before any damage could be done.
  • Lake Erie followed with two runners getting on base via errors with no outs in the bottom of the third inning. Beining buckled down and worked out of the inning without harm.
  • Gannon finally pushed a run across in the sixth frame. Jackie Martinez (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) reached base as the leadoff hitter as Allie Salerno (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) pinch ran for Martinez, proceeding to steal second base.
  • Rachel Tanilli (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) stepped to the plate and crushed a double to left, plating Salerno (Click Here). Gannon went up, 1-0.
  • Beining continued to dominate. She closed out the game, striking out the final two batters for the victory.

GAME NOTES - GAME ONE
  • Four Lady Knights recorded hits, including two from Perich and Tanilli
  • Both of Tanilli's hits were for extra bases.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
  • Game two started much like game one. Kennedy DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) picked up where Beining left off and was mowing down batters early on.
  • Ke. DeMatteis retired the lineup in order through three innings, as her twin sister Kristina DeMatteis (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) was behind the plate.
  • Gannon got the bats hot in the fourth inning. Sarah Ingerick (Middlebury Center, Pa./Wellsboro Area) led off with a single to center field. Kherrin Morgan (Hamilton, Ohio/Talawanda) followed with a double to center, scoring Ingerick. Gannon took a 1-0 lead.
  • Kentucky Wesleyan responded in the top of the fifth. With a runner on, Delaney Mixer drove a ball over the left-center wall to give Kentucky Wesleyan a 2-1 lead.
