KEY SEQUENCE
  • The Golden Knights were hanging with the Falcons early in the second half, but the hosts were able to reel off a 17-8 run over a span of just under five minutes to extend its lead to 54-37 with 13:18 to play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Frank Webb Jr. (Baltimore, Md./Our Lady of Mount Carmel) got the scoring going with a jumper 40 seconds in, and the Golden Knights went back and forth with the Falcons, with Daryl Porter (Southfield, Mich./Walled Lake Western), Cyril Ogbuagu (Lagos, Nigeria/Riverdale Baptist (Md.)) and Kofi Mills (London, England/Martin Van Buren (N.Y.)) each giving Gannon a lead after a Notre Dame answer.
  • Webb's second basket of the day gave Gannon a 10-8 advantage with 11:18 to go in the half. Notre Dame tied it up for the fifth time to make it 10-10 a minute later, and took its first lead on its next trip down the court. By the time a 6-0 run ended, the Falcons were up 14-10 with 9:03 on the clock.
  • The hosts looked to add to its lead, but baskets from Webb and Jonathan Harewood (Baldwin, N.Y./St. Anthony's) kept things within reach for the Knights. A 3-pointer out of Webb and a put-back from Ogbuagu tied things up at 20-all with 5:07 left in the half, but NDC ripped off 10 straight points to end the period on a 12-4 run.
  • A three-point play from Webb two minutes into the second half pulled Gannon back to within eight, but Notre Dame answered with a 3-pointer to start its deciding run.
  • Triples from Victor Olawoye (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial) and Webb sliced the Falcon lead back to 13 at 54-41 with 12:29 to play, and a Matt Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) layup off a turnover made it 60-49 four minutes later. Johnson's 3-pointer with 7:17 on the clock cut it to 10, but Gannon wasn't able to make it a single-digit game, as the Falcons netted baskets on their next two possessions to hold their lead.

GAME NOTES
  • Webb found his offensive touch in his fourth game of the season. The redshirt junior notched a career-high 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting to go along with four rebounds, two assists and three steals.
  • The Gannon defense allowed more than 70 points for the first time since the season opener, but still held the Falcons to just 38.1 percent from the floor.
  • Notre Dame became the first team since Bowie State Nov. 28 to match Gannon in rebounding, as the battle for the boards ended in a 39-39 draw. DeAnte Cisero (Chicago, Ill./Montgomery County (Ky.)) and Porter each notched seven rebounds to lead the Golden Knights.

UP NEXT
  • Gannon returns home for back-to-back PSAC crossover games, beginning Tuesday against Shippensburg.
  • The 7:30 p.m. tip from the Hammermill Center will feature live video, live stats and live audio.
  • The Golden Knights hold a 9-1 lead in the all-time series against the Raiders, with Ship picking up its first win against Gannon after a 65-48 win last season in Shippensburg.
  • The 8-2 Raiders got off to an 8-0 start and a No. 11 ranking, but are on a two-game skid with losses to Bowie State and IUP.
