KEY SEQUENCE
  • Holding a 17-12 lead with just under five minutes showing on the first half clock, Gannon found itself on the wrong end of a 12-2 scoring outburst from the Huskies to end the second quarter. The run put Bloomsburg up 24-19 at intermission and the hosts would not trail for the remainder of the conference matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After an even start to the game, Nicole LaCava (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) put Gannon up by four (6-2) early in the opening frame. Elise Torrence (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) helped balloon the Gannon lead to five at 10-5 with a layup off a pass from Sydney Mitchell (Halethorpe, Md./Seton Keough) at the 2:01 mark of the first quarter. Torrence was not finished, converting a jump shot with just two ticks left on the first quarter clock to put the Lady Knights ahead 12-7.
  • LaCava converted at the foul line before finishing inside at 5:29 in the second period as Gannon led 15-10. A hoop and harm from Bloomsburg's Emma Saxton at 4:19 kick-started the Huskies 11-2 run to close the first half.
  • Lauren Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) answered with a three-point play of her own with 7:39 left in the third, cutting the Lady Knights deficit to five points at 27-22. After both teams came away empty on the next five possessions, LaCava trimmed the Huskies lead to three with a pair of foul shots at the 5:55 mark.
  • The Huskies went on an 11-4 run in the third quarter to extend their lead to double digits at 38-28 with 3:03 left in the third quarter. The Lady Knights got baskets from Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and Boston McKinney (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley), but missed several shots and committed two turnovers over the course of the Bloomsburg run.
  • Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion) whittled the Bloomsburg lead to nine with a third quarter foul shot, but the Huskies quickly pushed the lead back to double figures. Aiora Rivas (Ibiza, Spain/IES CTEIB) scored as time expired in the third, but Gannon trailed 46-35.
  • The Lady Knights scored just six points in the fourth quarter and trailed by double figures for the remainder of the game.

GAME NOTES
  • Offense was hard to come by for Gannon in its PSAC opener. The lady Knights had their second lowest shooting percentage (.340) from the field this season and went 0-for-15 from three-point range.
  • LaCava powered the Gannon offense with 17 points and four rebounds, marking her sixth double figure scoring game of the season.
  • Aside from LaCava, Rourke and L. Tewes added five points each.
  • Gannon holds an 8-3 all-time lead in the series with Bloomsburg. The meeting on Saturday was the first since the 2016-17 season.
  • Bloomsburg had four players log 30 or more minutes in the contest.
