THE RUNDOWN

  • The Short Story – Gannon surrendered four second half goals to East Stroudsburg in a 4-2 road loss Saturday afternoon. The loss snaps a seven-match winning streak for Gannon and also was the first defeat in conference play for the Golden Knights.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon scored the first goal of the match on its second shot of the game for a 1-0 lead. Freshman Joe Knox (Gold Coast, Australia/The Southport School) scored on a sliding shot into the corner of the net for his third goal of the season. Junior Chad Barrick (Gahanna, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) had the assist on the goal.
  • East Stroudsburg put forth a staggering offensive effort in the second half with four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead.
  • Sophomore Alex Lee Yaw (Jamestown, N.Y./Mercyhurst Prep) provided Gannon's second goal with a tally at 88:35. The unassisted goal came on a low shot into the lower left corner of the net following a free kick to make the score 4-2.
     
GAME NOTES
  • Lee Yaw scored his first goal of the season in his first start of 2018. He led the team with three shots today.
  • Junior Ben Andrews (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) posted a pair of shots with one on goal.
  • East Stroudsburg scored four second half goals on nine shots.
  • Junior goalie Hedi Mehnaoui (Paris, France/Lycee Chevrollier) made seven saves in net.
  • The Warriors held a 17-11 edge in shots and an 11-6 advantage in shots on frame.
  • There were a combined 43 fouls in the match.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon entered the matchup with an 11-6-2 all-time mark against East Stroudsburg.
  • Saturday was the first meeting for these two teams since the 2017 PSAC Championship game back on November 5, 2017. East Stroudsburg came away with a narrow 1-0 victory.
  • Knox has scored a goal in three of his last four matches.
