HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Aiora Rivas (Ibiza, Spain/IES CTEIB) scored the first points of the game on a three-pointer following a Pitt offensive foul. The Panthers then went on a 7-point run to take the lead before Gannon clawed back to knot it at 11-11 at the 4:40 media timeout thanks in part to a corner 3-pointer from Obenrader and a driving layup by Sydney Mitchell (Halethorpe, Md./Seton Keough).
  • Following the timeout, Obenrader connected for her second consecutive triple from the corner to put Gannon up 14-11. The Panthers outscored Gannon 7-2 over the next three minutes to take back the lead at 18-16 with 1:50 remaining in the first quarter. Obenrader made back-to-back 3-pointers down the stretch and Rivas hit one of two free throws to maintain a 23-22 lead at the end of the first.
  • Pitt scored the first six points of the second quarter before Ivana Twumasi (Jane and Finch, Ontario/Central Tech) hit a jumper for her first points of the game with 7:05 left. Elise Torrence (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) came off the bench to score on a put-back layup with 6:02 left in the second to cut it to 28-27. The Panthers outscored the Lady Knights 11-3 during the remainder of the quarter to take a 39-31 halftime lead.
  • Obenrader led the Lady Knights in the first half with 12 points on 4-for-4 triples.
  • Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) scored the first points of the second half on a backdoor layup, but Pitt's Jasmine Whitney stretched her team's lead back to eight points with a layup of her own. Both teams exchanged foul shots, with Obenrader converting three freebies to cut it to 42-37 with 5:44 remaining in the third quarter. Pitt outscored Gannon 6-4 during the final minutes of the quarter to hold a 48-42 at the end of the quarter.
  • Pitt pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lady Knights by a 20-4 margin. The Panthers opened the final frame with a quick 7-0 run.
  • Obenrader sank a three-pointer with 3:56 remaining in the contest as Pitt led 59-46. It was the only field goal of the quarter for the Lady Knights as the Panthers pulled ahead for the 68-46 win.
