HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Alderson Broaddus opened the match with one of its most dangerous chances just under five minutes into the match.
  • Gannon fired off four shots in response, including a shot from Thornton that rattled off the post.
  • Lee Yaw put Gannon on the board for a 1-0 lead in the first half at 11:13 with a perfectly-placed strike from the left side to beat Alderson Broaddus goalie Rafael Morris.
  • Thornton doubled the Golden Knights first half lead with a goal just over four minutes later at 6:58. He recorded his 10th goal of the season off a pass from Joe Knox (Gold Coast, Australia/The Southport School) as Gannon took a 2-0 lead in the first half.
  • AB broke through for its first and only goal of the night late in the second half with just over six minutes remaining in the game. Melvrik Fernandes recorded his first goal of the season to cut the Gannon lead to 2-1.
  • Andrews put the finishing touches on the nonconference matchup with a goal at 88:15 off an accurate cross-field pass from Dom Knowles (Gold Coast, Australia/The Southport School) as Gannon led 3-1.

GAME NOTES
  • Gannon dominated the pace of play in the first half, outshooting the Battlers by an 11-2 margin.
