OTHER LINKS
SATURDAY STORYLINES
  • The two teams are on opposite sides of winning streaks, as Cal has righted the ship after an 0-2 start to win each of its last four games, and Gannon picked up its first win of the season last week with a complete performance against Seton Hill.
  • The Vulcans are one of the youngest teams in the PSAC, with just four seniors in their starting lineup. The Golden Knights have more upperclassmen dotting their two-deep, but just six seniors in their starting 22.
  • Marcus Jones (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) broke through with 264 yards on the ground last week to snap the 19-year-old career rushing yard record at Gannon, marking the senior's first 200-yard effort of the season and the fifth of his career. Cal's rush defense has been susceptible this season, allowing 141.7 yards per game and giving up more than 200 against IUP and Kutztown.
  • Gannon will have an equally tough time looking to slow down the Vulcan air attack, which is 10th in the country at 309.8 yards per game. Freshman quarterback Noah Mitchell leads the way, piling up 323.2 yards of total offense a game to lead the PSAC and sit eighth in the nation.

UP NEXT
  • Gannon begins a stretch of three of its final four games at home next week, welcoming Indiana (Pa.) to McConnell Family Stadium Oct. 20.
  • A noon kickoff, the game is also American Law Enforcement/Military Appreciation Day, and a Jimmy John's Promotional Day.
  • IUP, which started 4-0 and reached as high as No. 2 in the national polls, has dropped two straight in PSAC West play heading into this weekend.
  • The Crimson Hawks hold a 7-3 advantage in the all-time series, and have won three straight since Gannon's 31-21 victory during its 9-2 season in 2014.
