GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first half proved to be a defensive affair with only three combined shots taken. Charleston was able to get two shots off while Gannon had one.
  • The first shot by either team wasn't taken until Charleston did so in the 26th minute.
  • Gannon's best scoring opportunity came in the 31st minute when junior Eduardo de Bonis Encinoso (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain/Escuelas Pias Tenerife)'s header in close was tipped by the Charleston goalkeeper off the underneath of the crossbar and failed to go into the net.
  • Charleston used a defensive miscue late in the first half to grab a 1-0 lead. The Gannon goalkeeper tried to come out on a pass over the Golden Knight defense, but his kick ricocheted off Ettore Ballestracci's body. The Charleston forward then directed the loose ball into an empty net with 3:41 left in the first half.
  • The visitors added an insurance goal 4:04 into the second half. Leon Kroiss headed in a corner kick from Kieran Bywater to provide a cushion.
  • Gannon managed seven shots the rest of the way, but was unable to dent the scoreboard.
