Gannon Men's Soccer Coasts to Third Consecutive Victory; Earns 3-1 Decision Against Daemen (Video)

THE RUNDOWN
  • Final Score: Gannon 3, Daemen 1
  • Records: Gannon 3-4, Daemen 2-5
  • Location: Erie, Pa. – McConnell Family Stadium
  • The Short Story – The Gannon Men's Soccer team used two goals from freshman Alex Lee Yaw (Jamestown, N.Y./Mercyhurst Prep) to push past Daemen, 3-1, on Tuesday at McConnell Family Stadium. The victory was the third-straight for the Golden Knights.

GAMEDAY CENTRAL
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon put the first tally on the board in the 20th minute. Chad Barrick (Gahanna, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) booted a ball 50 yards down field where a waiting Alex Lee Yaw (Jamestown, N.Y./Mercyhurst Prep) out ran the Wildcat defense to get one-on-one with the goalie. Lee Yaw faked left, then right, lining a ball in the corner of the net.
  • Lee Yaw was back on the attack in the 34th minute. Dexter Abrams (Toronto, Ontario/Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School) set up Lee Yaw from 30 yards out and he roped a ball over the Wildcat goalie, knocking it off the crossbar and in. It was Lee Yaw's third goal of the season.
  • With Gannon still pressing up the field, the Golden Knights were back on the Wildcats' half of the field in the 39th minute. Ivan Manfredi (Chiavari, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Marconi Delpino) chipped a ball from 40 yards and in to the box, which couldn't be cleared by the Wildcat defense. The ball found Baran Kilic (Darmstadt, Germany/Bertolt-Brecht-Schule) and he shot the loose ball into the net. It was Kilic's first goal of the season.
  • The Golden Knights took a 3-0 lead to halftime.
  • Daemen scored the only goal of the second half. With just 42 seconds remaining in the match, Alex Reid used a Ross Stewart header off the post for a put-back goal.
  • Gannon closed out the final seconds and took the non-conference match, 3-1.
