  • The Short Story: Three different Lady Knights scored individual goals as the Gannon women's soccer team shutout Pitt-Johnstown 3-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at the Richland High School Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore Taylor Lewis (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) put Gannon up 1-0 when she scored her second goal of the season in the seventh minute on a breakaway. Senior Hannah Manczka (Fairview, Pa./McDowell) was credited with the assist.  
  • Redshirt-senior Sarah Kaiser (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) scored her first goal as a Lady Knight on a pass from Lewis in the 25th minute to give Gannon a 2-0 lead at halftime.
  • In the 53rd minute of the contest, rookie Megan McCartney (Chicora, Pa./Karns City) made it 3-0 when she headed in her second career goal on a corner kick from Kaiser. 

GAME NOTES
  • Gannon controlled the contest from the start, posting staggering advantages in shots (24-1) and corner kicks (8-1). Gannon also produced a 12-8 edge in fouls.
  • Senior goalkeeper Danitza Indacochea (Vaughan, Ontario/St. Joan of Arc) earned her second shutout of the year.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • In just the fourth game of the season, Indacochea has already eclipsed her season-win record of two victories recorded during her freshman year.
  • Gannon allowed its fewest amount of shots by an opponent since Oct. 10, 2015, when it held Mansfield without a shot in the 5-0 win on Senior Day.
  • Gannon is now 6-0 in the all-time series with Pitt-Johnstown.
