HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Game one began with a single to third base by Gannon's Jackie Martinez (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep). Kellyn Perich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) reached on an error and the Lady Knights were in business with two on and none out.
  • Edinboro's Carley Nasca pitched her way out of the inning before Gannon could do any damage, holding the Lady Knights scoreless in the first.
  • Olivia Gumbita (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) got the nod in game one and sat the Fighting Scots down in order in the first inning.
  • Edinboro dented the scoreboard first in the fourth inning with a Brooke Callaghan double followed by an RBI-single from Claire Johnston. The Fighting scots led 1-0 after four innings.
  • Gannon's bats remained mostly quiet until the seventh inning. Taylor Wilp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) led off the inning with a walk, followed by an Autumn Smith (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) fielder's choice that ended with all runners safe on the base paths.
  • Allie Salerno (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) laid down a sacrifice bunt to move both runners up to second and third with one out.
  • Martinez stepped into the box and was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Kellyn Perich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township).
  • Perich ripped a ball to left-center and the Lady Knights took a 2-1 lead to the bottom of the seventh.
  • Gumbita sealed the victory with the final three outs and the Lady Knights were a winner.

  • Edinboro responded in the bottom of the second with a Olivia Jankowski home run to tie the game at one.
