ERIE, Pa. - Former Gannon football standout Liam Nadler recently signed a professional contract with the Colorado Crush of the Indoor Football League (IFL) and was immediately named the league's offensive player of the week by The Gridiron Crew.
Nadler signed with Colorado on March 23 and played two days later at the Nebraska Danger, completing 65 percent (13-20) of his passes for 121 yards. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, Nadler then led the Crush to its first victory of the season at the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles on March 31. He connected on 67 percent (12-18) of his passes for 168 yards to go along with six touchdowns and no interceptions. Nadler also added a rushing touchdown during the 52-49 road win.
After graduating magna cum laude from Gannon with a 3.87 cumulative grade point average while obtaining a bachelor's degree in political science, Nadler participated in rookie mini-camp with the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He was Gannon's starting quarterback for four consecutive seasons (2012-15) after redshirting during his first year as a Golden Knight.
Combining his academic and athletic prowess, Nadler was of only two quarterbacks named an Academic All-American for the second consecutive season in 2015. The prolific passer was a two-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Fall Top 10 Winner, an award reserved for the top PSAC student-athletes who excel in both the classroom and area of competition. He was named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and received the NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association (ADA) Academic Achievement Award every year during his collegiate career. A three-time Academic All-District first-team selection, Nadler was named to the Academic All-America second team as a redshirt junior.
The Leipsic, Ohio, native completed 55.2 percent (186-337) of his passes for 2,641 yards and 24 touchdowns in 11 games during his final season in 2015. Nadler ranked third among PSAC players in passing yards per completion (14.20), sixth in passing efficiency (141.0), seventh in total offense per game (248.8), seventh in passing touchdowns (24), seventh in passing yards per game (240.1), eighth in points responsible for per game (14.9) and ninth in completions per game (16.91). He finished 24th nationally in passing yards per completion, 31st in passing touchdowns, 43rd in points responsible for per game, 46th in passing yards per game, 47th in passing efficiency, 53rd in total offense per game and 64th in completions per game (18.11).
Nadler is Gannon's all-time leader in completions (851), passing yards (11,160), pass completion percentage (58.2), 300-yard games (16), 200-yard games (30), passing touchdowns (82), total offensive yards (11,863) and total touchdowns (111).
A four-year starter, Nadler earned all-america honors for his play on the field three times and All-PSAC accolades twice.
