GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • The first inning began on Saturday, April 14, 72 hours prior to the eventual finish. Kellyn Perich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) got things started with an RBI-double to put the Lady Knights up 1-0 after the first half inning.
  • Mercyhurst countered with a four-run bottom of the first on a grand slam by Jolene Teller.
  • Maria Taliani (Cheswick, Pa./Deer Lakes) got in on the long-ball action with a lead-off homer in the top of the second. Taliani's home run drew the Lady Knights back to within 4-2.
  • Kherrin Morgan (Hamilton, Ohio/Talawanda) went yard in the third with a solo-shot. Gannon gained another run and only trailed by one, 4-3.
  • The Lady Knights weren't done though, singles by Rachel Tanilli (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) and Taliani, followed by a Lisa Szajn (Maple, Ontario/St. Joan of Arc Catholic) hit-by-pitch loaded the bases.
  • Allie Salerno (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) was next up and singled, scoring Tanilli. The Lady Knights were back to even at four.
  • The rains came in the fourth and postponed the conclusion of the contest to Tuesday, April 18.
  • The new day brought sunny skies but not many hits. The Lady Knights couldn't muster hits in the fifth or sixth innings.
  • Sarah Ingerick (Middlebury Center, Pa./Wellsboro Area) tallied a lead-off single in the top of the seventh for Gannon. A Perich fielder's choice and Morgan groundout left Perch on second with two outs but she was stranded after a Wilp fly-out.
  • Mercyhurst was in business in the bottom of the seventh with a lead-off single by Rachel DiBartolomeo and stolen base.
  • Teller singled and the Lakers had runners on the corners. DiBartolomeo scored on a wild pitch to win the game.

GAME NOTES - GAME ONE
  • Morgan clubbed her sixth home run of the season and seventh of her career.
  • Taliani notched her fourth home run in her first season with the Lady Knights.
  • Perich went 1-for-4 with a double and RBI.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon lost only its second game decided in the last at-bat this season. The Lady Knights own seven victories in last at-bat fashion.
  • Gannon played in its seventh-straight one-run game of the season.
  • Before the streak of seven one-run games, the next longest streak of consecutive one-run games was four. The Lady Knights accomplished the feat in both 2008 and 2010.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
  • Mercyhurst began the scoring in the first inning. The Lakers put up an unearned run after a Lady Knight miscue.
  • The 1-0 score remained the same until the fifth inning when Mercyhurst added three more unearned runs. The Lakers made the score 4-0 after five innings.
  • The Gannon bats began to get hot in the seventh inning like they have in many games prior. Kherrin Morgan (Hamilton, Ohio/Talawanda) led-off with a single to center and Jenn Krider (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Linesville) pinch-ran for her at first.
  • Autumn Smith (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) stepped to the plate with two outs and crushed an RBI-double to left field, scoring Krider.
  • Mercyhurst got the final out and finished off a 5-1 victory.

GAME NOTES - GAME TWO
  • Smith went 2-for-2 with a double and RBI.
  • Madi Beining (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) pitched a complete game, only allowing one earned run while punching out five batters.
  • Krider scored the only run for Gannon.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon had its seven consecutive one-run game streak ended in game two.
  • The Lady Knights still hold sole possession of first-place in the PSAC-West.
